Toby's Posthumous Album.

For three years The Indie Thieves have been entertaining people with their musical talent, energy and humour.

One year ago Toby (Thief 1) and John (Thief 2) embarked on a mission to write and record an album of their own songs.

On this journey Toby heartbreakingly passed away. No illness, no warning, absolutely no clue that this devastating thing would happen.

Anybody who has met Toby will know that he was one of a kind. His silliness only surpassed by his talent, generosity and humility.

As well as performing as often as he could, Toby was a remarkable musician who revelled in passing on his skills and knowledge to the next generation of musos.

In honour of this amazing guitarist, teacher, father, partner and friend, we want to finish what he and I started.

THE INDIE THIEVES

Love, heartbreak, humour and rehab - Introducing "So Long Gone", the incredible debut album from The Indie Thieves.

We have written tracks that embody our own experiences from our past, present and we take a look into the future of what may have happened if life had taken a different turn.

We want people to hear these tales, get to know us a little, and enjoy the musical journey.

We both work full-time and play gigs whenever we get a chance. We love to entertain people and give them a night to remember. Always trying to incorporate humour into our shows and inviting the audience to get involved. We give a piece of ourselves in everything that we do.

Gigging covers is always fun, as people know the songs already, so the idea of creating an album of original music was quite daunting, but filled us with excitement.

We have played in other bands before and had a taste of songwriting, but in the three and a half years that we have been together, it has never come up.

DECIDING TO CREATE AN ALBUM

New Year 2025, we made a resolution to start writing. When the songs started coming we began to think that we could be onto something here. It took us a little by surprise how well we worked together, although it shouldn't have, as we hit it off from the moment that we met at that open mic back in 2022.

We have written over 20 tracks, but have had to choose just 8 of those for this first album. Recording these tracks as demos has shown us that we need to find some other musicians to really give these songs the quality that we feel they deserve.

We originally intended to recreate the same type of music that we are covering at our pub gigs, bands like Arctic Monkeys and The Kooks. Instead, we have found ourselves producing our own unique blend of indie-based guitar rock with an injection of 80's and 90's vibes. A proper melting pot of eachother's influences.

As a duo we play guitars and sing with no backing tracks, everything is live. Trying to translate this into the full band experience has been a challenge. The decision was made to get others involved.

We have been in talks with an exceptional drummer and incredible bass player, and they are keen to get involved, which is great.

In order to be able to release this album, we also need to give the tracks the specialist studio treatment. This means getting them mixed, mastered and produced to a professional standard.

As you can imagine, these things don't come cheap. So we are trying to raise funds to cover what we need to make this album a success. Our time, passion, creativity and enthusiasm come for free, but unfortunately, not everything else does!!!
