Afghanistan has suffered over 4 decades of war and violence, leaving many civilians dead, and hundreds of thousands of children orphaned. The recent attack in a maternity hospital in Dasht-e-Barchi, Kabul left 24 mothers and newborn babies dead and many newborns without a parent or carer. These children, along with many others sadly, will grow up and have no choice but to earn a living on the streets. This is why we, the SOAS Afghan Society, are raising £600 towards the 'Educate an Orphan' project. A project set up by the UK- registered charity Noble Connection which aims to finance the primary school education of orphans in Afghanistan. Every small donation will make the basic right of education possible for the helpless orphans of Afghanistan.
