Story
Join us in rewriting the future of education at St. Joseph's College Sasse!
Since its inception in 1939, St. Joseph's College Sasse has been a beacon of educational excellence and leadership in British Southern Cameroons, now known as Cameroon. This institution, lovingly referred to as "Sasse," rests at the base of Mount Fako, shaping young minds into future leaders. The legacy of Sasse is a testament to the caliber of students it has produced, many of whom have risen to prominent positions in government, business, and academia. The rigour that these young minds lived through at Sasse College remains with them throughout their various professional journeys. The very name "Sasse" became synonymous with excellence and leadership, principles perfectly captured in the essence of the moto of the college: "Fides Quarens Intellectum" (Faith seeking understanding).
Over the years, Sasse college has faced challenges in maintaining the standards which had been its hallmark. Those challenges have been significantly exacerbated by the ongoing Cameroon Anglophone Crisis and the ensuing armed conflict since 2017. These events resulted in the closure of the school and the relocation of its students to a campus not conducive to their accustomed formation. The lack of stability in the academic environment impacted the quality in results often experienced at the Cameroon GCE O'levels and A'levels examinations. In 2021, ex-students of Sasse college were stunned to learn of its sub-par performance at both aforementioned public examinations. This uncharacteristically bad performance raised questions on the quality of academic tutorship, the state of the library, and the enabling environment for students to excel at the college. Ex-students (Sobans) are ever aware of the responsibility to give back towards the betterment of their alma mater.
In this regard, SOBA UK has taken the initiative to fundraise towards addressing this problem and hope our efforts will go a long way to improve the study environment for students especially in the examination classes. We aim to use the funds raised towards procurement of books, revision guides as well as computing equipment and provision of internet services to allow current and future students of Sasse college to access the global knowledge bank via the internet in the same way their counterparts in colleges in the United Kingdom do.
Join us in making a difference today!
SOBA UK wishes to express our utmost gratitude in advance for your support towards this esteemed cause.
