Story

This summer I spent 10 weeks in Cambodia working for VSO (Voluntary Service over seas) in a rural community on a youth empowerment and livelihoods development project.

Whilst I was there, there were 2 main problems that really hurt my heart: Gender inequality and youth drug abuse. To fundraise, I am going COMPLETELY SOBER in OCTOBER!

I am halfing the money raised to go to 2 charities that combat these issues.

I am raising money for JASS, which is an NGO that works all over the world including in Cambodia. JASS works with CYWEN, Cambodia Young Women Empowerment Network, and other groups to empower women. They are dedicated to strengthening the voice, visibility and collective organizing power of women. JASS Southeast Asia (SEA) supports grassroots and diverse (LBTI, indigenous, rural/urban, young) women activists to the challenge norms, prejudices and taboos that prevent them from speaking out against inequality and poverty. My good friend Chantha is a member of CYWEN.

I am raising money for DARAC, Drug Addicts Relief Association of Cambodia. Which reaches out to the drug user populations in the communities and accepts them into the treatment/detoxification and social rehabilitation program to provide support, education, improve life skills and reduce risk, improve longevity and quality of life.

I AM GOING SOBER FOR THE WHOLE OF OCTOBER so please donate to these causes which are very close to my heart, and hopefully to your heart too.

I will post updates on facebook of how it is being sober during freshers month!

Thank you
