My best friend Debbie bought a place out in the village of Sobral and for the last 4 years, has been making it into a home to move to permanently. She has made friends with the residents of the village and become close to them, and over time has put more and more effort into making Sobral her home. Some people lost their lives in these fires, some their houses, their livelihoods, their memories. People were devastated and the local firemen were overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the roaming wildfires. Since then they have been slowly piecing their lives back together bit by bit, and this page is about giving to these people, to help in some small way alleviate the strain they are under.
