Story

Soccer Cysters is a soon to launch network of activity groups across the UK, specifically for women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). We are fundraising to help get this project off the ground.

1 in 10 Women have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) worldwide; as-well as cysts invading the ovaries of PCOS sufferers it can also be understood as a hormonal imbalance that affects women of child-bearing age. At its core it affects a women's menstrual cycle by delaying ovulation and disrupting everything from fertility, emotional well-being and body image - and leads to a higher risk of type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Aside from trying to manage PCOS with medication the best way of dealing with the symptoms of PCOS is through lifestyle changes such as eating a healthy diet and engaging in regular exercise, however like anything it's a lot easier said than done and often sufferers can feel that their condition will never get 'any better' or improve.

The aim of Soccer Cysters is to connect fellow PCOS sufferers within an encouraging and supportive environment that creates opportunity for exercise through team sports. We want each club to be fun and accessible and hope to engage with women who may have never played football or even taken part in team-sports before - we will do this by providing free membership and welcome abilities of any level to take part.

We have to chosen to launch activity clubs focused on football (soccer) due to its accessibility - it's the most popular team sport worldwide and thus resources will be easier to access as a non-profit charitable organisation.

Football has never been more fun, friendly or female!

BENEFITS OF SOCCER CYSTERS

The funding we receive from your donations will help us to establish our first club; we have chosen the city of Sheffield, South Yorkshire to launch the first Soccer Cysters due to its size, central location within the UK and that fact it is already an established city of sport that has access to facilities we could use. The money you donate will allow us to secure a training ground, coach and equipment needed to start the activity clubs. Funding will also allow us to plan our expansion across to other UK cities, our aim is to have at least 3 clubs active across cities by autumn 2021 starting with Sheffield in July.

Thank you for donating today! For information on ways to get more involved please visit our WEBSITE or INSTAGRAM page.
