I'm raising £500 to help us keep the Ivor Guest Dance Research Grants alive

The Society for Dance Research is dedicated to advancing the study, education, and appreciation of dance in all its forms. We do this through public forums, conferences, performances, and publications. In line with our mission, we also offer financial support to PhD students, artist practitioners, and early-career and established researchers through our Ivor Guest Research Grants.
Named after Ivor Guest (1929-2018), whose work on ballet history transformed the study of dance, these grants are open to all, with a special focus on encouraging applications from underrepresented groups. Thanks to Ivor Guest’s bequest, we have supported 19 projects over four years.
Unfortunately, in 2023 we had to pause the Ivor Guest Research Grants due to the expiration of our initial funding. But the importance of these grants—and the critical role they play in empowering individuals to pursue innovative research—has never been more apparent. Many dance researchers are facing challenges, with cuts to dance programs in Higher Education impacting their work.
Your donation will directly support the continuation of this vital scheme, ensuring future generations of dance scholars and practitioners can continue to explore and expand the field. By donating, you are directly enabling the growth of dance knowledge, as well as honouring Ivor Guest’s legacy in advancing scholarly work. Every donation, big or small, brings us closer to ensuring that this valuable resource remains available to future researchers.
Thank you for supporting dance researchers.
