I've raised £500 to Create a series of "Socks and Sanitary" gift packages for the homeless population in the Cambridge area.

We believe that while our society refuses to recognise and correctly support our local homeless community, a harmful stereotype grows - we want to introduce a more empathetic, 'human' approach to helping people on our streets.
We are a group of teenagers who have chosen to spend our summer participating in the National Citizen Service - a government-introduced scheme which encourages young people to engage with their local community. We've chosen to create a social action project which we hope will benefit the wellbeing of the homeless population in the Cambridge area. Having considered the products which we believe to be necessary for hygiene and wellbeing, and researched the most appreciated items as stated by a variety of homeless charities, we have decided to create "Socks and Sanitary" care packages, containing a pair of socks, toothbrush and toothpaste, and sanitary towels (which are rarely donated). Each will cost only a couple of pounds for us to produce and we hope to distribute the packages to the largest number of people as we can over the next couple of weeks.
