We have found that at any given time, there can be as many as 300 homeless people in Somerset. Services exist in general, Monday-Friday, so we aim to provide a free, basic, mobile food service that covers weekends, beginning in Bridgwater & Taunton. We have negotiated supplies of food donations (and other items such as blankets, groundsheets, etc); but as a new "not-for-profit" organisation, we need some start-up funding.

To begin with we have an chance to buy a decommissioned ambulance, which we will need to insure, buy petrol, maintain, etc. The ambulance is well-maintained (they are MOT'd bi-annually) and will be fully serviced & MOT'd when we get it.

This will allow us to provide our food service each weekend in both Bridgwater & Taunton.

As we progress we hope to expand the operation geographically, and offer access to training, voluntary employment, and Outreach services to the homeless in those areas, and we are currently forging links with other available services throughout the region.

"We" are a small group of individuals who saw a need for the service, and we have banded together to go under the banner of "Somerset Homeless: Helping the Homeless to Support Themselves".

Currently we are completing the necessary forms to become a "Community Interest Company" registered with Companies House.
