Weʼve raised £10 to Help disadvantaged children in Jamaica
- Funded on Wednesday, 7th December 2016
Don't have time to donate right now?
Story
Jamaica's National Children's Home nurtures 86 children, disadvantaged due to severe mental and/or physical disabilities, sexual abuse, abandonment or poverty. Their parents cannot or will not care for them. JNCH's mission is to provide 24/7 protection, education, stability and love, to give each child the opportunity to become a productive citizen in tomorrow's world; from learning to communicate and dress themselves, to receiving counselling, or developing vocational skills.
I have the opportunity to visit the Home and volunteer with Girl Guiding UK to support this mission. I will work alongside the carers; helping with homework, meal preparation, running games and activities, sharing of cultures, teaching reading and writing and showing love and affection. I will also be making a direct donation to the home and collecting donations such as toys, stationary and toiletries.
To fund this I am running the Reading Half Marathon on the 19th March 2017. Any donation kindly contributing to this mission would be hugely appreciated and lovingly received by the children of JNCH. Thank you
