Story

Next Month (October Blind Awareness Month!!) I will be taking on a very personal challenge – run/walking 5k blindfolded – to raise funds and awareness for children living with visual impairments. VICTA - Oscar my Son, has stepped up with me to the challenfe to be beside me and guiding me through the run as my tether

This cause means the world to me because my amazing son, Courtney, is visually impaired. He was born with Optic Nerve Hypoplasia and Oculocutaneous Albinism, and he is registered visually impaired. Despite the challenges he faces daily, Courtney approaches life with such courage, positivity, and strength. He inspires me every single day, and it is his bravery that has given me the determination to step into his world, even if only for a short while, by taking on this blindfolded challenge.

Running or walking without sight is not just physically difficult – it is a powerful reminder of the obstacles that children with visual impairments face constantly. For me, it’s a challenge lasting 5k. For them, it is life. And yet, with the right support, opportunities, and resources, these incredible children can achieve so much and truly thrive.

The money raised will go directly towards helping children with visual impairments, whether that’s through specialist equipment, accessible learning resources, or support programmes that allow them to feel included, confident, and capable of reaching their potential. Every single donation, no matter the size, will help make a real difference.

I love my son more than words can express, and this challenge is not only for him, but for every child living with sight loss who deserves to live life without limits. Courtney gives me strength every day, and I want to use this opportunity to give something back in his honour.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, your generosity, and for standing with me to support children with visual impairments. Together, we can help shine a light in their world. ❤️
