Story
Hi guys.......as some of you may know my Grandma is my world & over the past 2 years especially we have created an unbreakable bond, she is my best friend. And at the fabulous age of 93 she is still making me laugh until i cry!
She hasn't had it easy, she's lived on her own since my granddad died over 15 years ago and she has thrived from her independence. Over the past few years she's had all that stripped from her and it's been so hard for her and everyone around her. She has cried and cried and so have we! She's had countless trips, falls, coughs, colds & infections but she is still here today and she makes me so proud.
After spending weekend after weekend and night after night with her in hospital, driving to and from Manchester to be with her my family made the heart breaking decision that she couldn't carry on living independently and would have to move out of the home she's lived in for overfifty years, which broke her heart and ours.
The thought of an old person going through what my grandma has without anybody by her side like me and my Auntie have been makes me so sad, and a lot of people don't have anybody. AgeUK helps people who aren't as lucky as my grandma is, supports people and offers comfort and support to people that have no family or friends to sit with them for hours, take them out at the weekends or even someone just to have a chat with. And if I could just help one person from this then I've made a difference and it'll all be worth it!
SOOO...... 4 weeks ago I decided to sign up to the Wilmslow half marathon on the 24th June which is a 13 mile run (bare in mind I normally can't run to the end of my road!) and I couldn't think of a better Charity to raise money for. I've also managed to talk a very good friend of mine Adam Waterfield to help me and push me through the run so thank you Ads!
Any way - thanks for reading and any contribution large or small will be greatly appreciated!
Sophs xxxx
