Jumping for Joy...
I’m about to do something completely out of my comfort zone—a skydive! Something I have wanted to do for a while and now I have a very, very special reason for taking the leap (literally!)
I’m raising money for Merefield School, the incredible place that has transformed my son Teddy’s life. Teddy is six years old and non-verbal autistic; since joining Merefield at age four, he has come on leaps and bounds. Even though he can’t say it in words, his excitement for school says it all—the second he sees his blue jumper, he can’t wait to get dressed and go, we feel so lucky.
One of the biggest joys in his life is swimming. Merefield is lucky enough to have a swimming pool, which is an amazing resource for children with severe learning disabilities. The water helps them relax, learn, and develop essential skills, but the pool itself is quite plain. Unlike many specialist schools, it lacks sensory elements like lights, music, and interactive features that could make a huge difference to the children’s experience.
We want to transform the swimming pool into a vibrant, sensory-rich space, helping children like Teddy engage, learn, and thrive in the water. A specialist company has quoted £15,000 for the full transformation.
A group of us—including other Merefield parents, family members, and staff—are taking on this skydiving challenge to raise as much as possible. Every single donation, big or small, will directly contribute to making this vision a reality.
If you’d like to support this cause, please donate whatever you can—it will mean the world to me, to Teddy, and to all the amazing children at Merefield. Your generosity will help bring joy, excitement, and new learning opportunities to their school life.
💙 Thank you so much for your support! 💙
