In May of this year, my little brother Ryan was taken into hospital as he was not eating or drinking, his behaviour had become abnormal and we knew something was not right with him. For weeks the doctors carried out various tests to find out what the cause was. They did body scans which came back showing shadows in his brain and in his spine. They then proceeded to do a lumbar puncture to test for conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord or other parts of the nervous system. As you can imagine it was quite distressing for him being poked and prodded at, but he was so brave throughout all of this and kept a smile on his face. It then came back that he had a tumour in his brain which has spread to his spine. Immediately he was scheduled for surgery so that they could biopsy the tumour and further establish a diagnosis.
He has been moved to the intensive care unit at the Royal Infirmary, where he is recovering from his surgery. We are currently awaiting for the results of the biopsy.
