Story
Thank you for visiting our page! Although my words will never do Sophie’s story justice, I hope that by sharing some of what I know we might be able to pull together a small amount of money for Sophie while she fights her battle against cancer.
Just before her seventeenth birthday, Sophie was diagnosed with a rare and chronic form of liver disease, known as ‘PSC’. This year, having spent months in hospital, Sophie was finally given the life-saving liver transplant that she needed. Although the procedure was initially successful, she has since been diagnosed with post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) and has this week started chemotherapy.
Sophie has been so unbelievably positive and courageous throughout, but what is most incredible is how selfless Sophie and her family have been. They have campaigned relentlessly to raise awareness of PSC, and in addition to numerous fundraisers, they have set up a Just Giving page for 'PSC-support' in an effort to help others suffering from the disease (please click here to visit the page, and to read Sophie’s story).
As most of you know, Sophie is an incredibly beautiful and outgoing person, and she has remained an inspiration to us all. She has not let these illnesses get the better of her, and neither herself nor her lovely family have ever asked for help. I think it is about time that we try to cover a few of the costs which are inevitably associated with long-term illness, and get her back on the dance floor at Lost as soon as possible!
