    Story

Great teaching is the cornerstone of great education and great education lifts people out of poverty.

LRTT (Limited Resource Teacher Training) is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to tackle the global challenge of teacher shortage so that one day, every child will have a great teacher. They aim to inspire teachers around the world to share best practice so that skills can be practically used in the classroom, as well as promoting self-reflection and lifelong learning to empower teachers in their careers as well as promoting cultural openness.

The pupil: teacher ratio in developing countries is up to 5 times higher than in developed countries. Many classes have over 60 pupils and teachers feel over-worked and under-valued. In classrooms like these, making sure every child is learning is a real challenge and innovative approaches can make a real difference.

This summer, I will be heading to Tanzania from 2nd - 28th August with LRTT to train teachers who have little or no training, whatsoever. This will involve coaching teachers and leading conferences for head teachers in order to develop standards of education.

I love being a teacher and I love allowing the students I teach to progress and to be a success. Young people in Tanzania do not get the same opportunities in life and in education as what we get in the UK, and what we often take for granted. LRTT will provide me with the opportunity to make a difference beyond my own classroom and will allow me to have a much wider impact on education outside of the UK. It will enable young people in Tanzania to be a success.

On Saturday 12th May, Hannah Godley and I will be running (or attempting to run) the MAYhem Colour Run as well as organising other charity events. Please help support me, LRTT and these amazing children that deserve a high-quality education by donating any amount of money for this amazing cause.

Thank you - you amazing people xxx
