A post today from the bottom of my heart. We as a refuge are going through very tough times. Refuge life is always difficult, but its what we do and expect. No different to any other refuge. We help sick dogs, abandoned dogs, litters of pups. Its what we do at our own cost and do willingly out of love for our 4 legged friends. Over the past 6 years we have with the help of a small group of supporters re homed hundreds of dogs that would have died on the streets. We have never been challenged about what we do by the authorities. In fact the policia local and the guardia civil have frequently bought us dogs or asked us to pick them up. Now due to a dispute between our landlord and a neighbouring farmer who has dug out an illegal well we are being faced with Seprona who are the spanish equivalent of animal rights in UK. We are not licenced to care for our dogs or to hold the amount of dogs we have and despite the fact that they are 100% better off with us than in a perrera bears no weight. So here we are 6 years down the line trying to sort out the almost impossible. We need every bit of support that anyone can give us. Its going to cost money. Its going to need someone to help big time with translation. I just know that I can't let them take our dogs or stop us doing what we do. My vet has explained the process we need to go through to become legal. Its long and complicated. But we have to do it. Because we can't stop and we can't let the dogs already in our care down. Please please share this. This is the worst thing that could happen to us and we are totally unable to prevent it.
