    Story

I received an unconditional offer for University to study this September, I should be delighted. I however I have found myself in the unfortunate position that I may have to give up my place. Why? Because there is a gap in the support that parents receive with Child care. We are not eligible for the Student finance support as they state that a couple with 2 or more children should have compulsory outgoings of £9627 per year (this is all your bills and the remainder is expendable income) This is not our position in fact our figure is greater by 85%. You can appeal but as I have been advised by them all appeals are unsuccessful as this figure is not flexible and personal circumstance is not taken in to account. This was then repeated by The Department of Education on behalf of the Universities Minister. We are Not eligible for the government 2 year old funding as we are not both in work as I will be studying. We are not eligible for any help when one parent chooses to return to Education. There seems to be a gap in the Funding. To give up my place would devastate my family. Please, please help us- Don't let returning to education to better yourself as a parent become an impossible dream.
