    Story

Welcome to the Just Giving page for the inaugural Soulstice Festival - a one day and one night charity festival taking place in Surrey Hills this September, in aid of RNLI and Young Minds charities.

Our aim is simple: bring people together for a great cause, using great music. We have worked hard to bring some of the newest and freshest Funk, Soul and Disco going, culminating in an exciting and varied line up ranging from DJs all the way to Brass Bands, touching on every aspect of the music we all love so much.

We have chosen both charities for varying but equally personal reasons for our family.

    RNLI:

To put it simply, the RNLI save lives at sea. Their volunteer lifeboat crews provide a 24-hour rescue service in the UK and Ireland, their seasonal lifeguards look after people on busy beaches + their Flood Rescue Team helps those affected by flooding. With 95% of their total income coming from donations and fundraising, they would not be able to do their job without events like ours. Here are a few of examples of the difference we can make:

£17 will buy two red and yellow flags to keep people safe on the beach.

£45 will buy a pair of yellow wellies to keep our lifeboat crew safe and steady.

£198 will buy a helmet to protect our crew from the worst conditions the sea can throw at them.

These seem small but they will make a huge difference to those who devote their lives to protecting those at sea.

    Young Minds:

Young Minds are an absolutely brilliant charity in their 25th year and they are leading the fight for a future where all young minds are supported and empowered to face any challenges. Some statistics:

50% of mental health problems are established by age 14 and 75% by age 24.

10% of school children have a diagnosable mental illness but 75% of younbg people with a mental health problem are not receiving treatment

Suicide deaths in young people are over 1600 per year, higher than any other cause of death

These all show that the crisis in children and young people’s mental health is real. Young Minds want to fight this and offer all possible means to decrease these statistics.

Young Minds have three main aims:

    Valuing every voice

    Being honest and straightforward

Striving to make as much impact as possible

They also run projects to help children cope with the changes and experiences we all go through during school, to support refugees and asylum seekers, to create a transition for youths from child to adult mental health services as well as many more.

We have chosen to support this charity because we think there is a stigma around young mental health that Young Minds are doing an absolutely fantastic job to combat. We want to do everything we can to change the idea of mental health being seen as a ‘weakness’ or ‘embarrassing’. All your support for Soulstice will be directed at helping them.

If you you are visiting this page to make a donating because you cannot make the Festival, then thank you very much - we appreciate it hugely. Please feel free to share this with anyone who you think would want to donate - every little helps!
