My Story

So as some of you may know I have just returned home after 3 months volunteering in South Africa, working on the sport development program in primary schools in the Western Cape. It was THE most rewarding, heart filling and most definitely one of the greatest achievements in my life. Each and every child that I taught, spoke to or even just gave a simple hug to, gave me so much love and compassion. It was by far the biggest eye-opener that I have experienced. They taught me so much about myself, the world and that to be happy and wealthy is to love what you do and love the people who surround you in those times. These children have next to no form of structure, lesson planning or a simple belief in them; and to be able to share my knowledge and give them the inspiration to know that they can achieve anything they put their minds to, it touched me. Each and every day I saw these children grow and try harder every lesson we had together, and to leave them so soon really tore me down- I knew that I had to go back, and continue the work that I started. So here I am, planning my next trip back to SA with something more to give these children.

I am doing this is because the stories of some of these children are beyond anything that I could imagine. These children come to school to escape their home life and many of them have the most ambitious dreams for their futures but, they doubt what they can achieve because of their upbringing. I see so much potential in all of the children within this school and to see their faces light up with the biggest smile because you praise them for their achievements, is one of the most incredible feelings ever. I've shared some of my favourite photos below from some of the work myself and other volunteers did with the children- it involves such things as playing children games i.e duck, duck, goose. relay games- balancing a cone on their heads, 3 sticks- jumping over 3 sticks with only touching the floor twice. etc

The money that is donated will be used to buy sufficient sport equipment to help guide these children to a better and brighter future and give them the opportunity to know that anything is possible. It will allow structure to the lessons and engage them in learning new sports and to keep them active and healthy. It will also help the teachers with their lesson plans knowing that they have the equipment to source and fulfil a sufficient 'learning' sport lesson and it will also allow them to learn new things in sport education.

These kids, they deserve a happy, healthy life to do all they've dreamt about and given the opportunity to be heard and taught all they need to in this life. I just want to give these children something to enjoy but more importantly to learn. I'm reaching out to you to help me, help them. Even the smallest of donations will go a long way and I will fully appreciate every penny given. My aim is to reach the target by December 2018.

Thankyou for taking the time to read my story and for your generous donations.

I will keep you updated on further work and everything that you have helped me to achieve.
