Story
We are South Croydon Community Association (SCCA), run by local volunteers and is dedicated to making central South Croydon a more connected and engaged neighbourhood.

A community notice board serves as a vital hub for communication and connection within a neighbourhood. Responses to the idea on the SCCA social media show huge support for a community notice board in South Croydon’s Village Area as seen in other areas within Croydon.
Here are some reasons why having a community notice board is essential:
Inclusivity and Visibility: It’s an inclusive platform where people can share information, requests for help, and offers of support. Unlike digital platforms, the notice board is accessible to all, regardless of their online presence or technological literacy.
Real-World Counterpoint to Online Platforms: While online platforms like Facebook and Instagram have their place, the traditional community notice board provides a tangible, real-world space for communication. It fosters a sense of community by allowing people to physically interact with posted notices and engage with their neighbours.
Investment in Community & local businesses: When councils or resident groups invest in a community notice board, it sends a powerful message: “We care about our community.” An outdoor notice board demonstrates a concern for everyone’s wellbeing and also offers physical platform for local businesses to keep the community informed.

A community notice board needs to be is visible to as many people as possible so it needs to be in the highest foot fall location possible within the central South Croydon area. The community notice board needs to be seen by those passing through, its flag post saying ‘WELCOME’.

We need to raise £1,200 to cover the planning and installation costs to Croydon Council. Please help if you can, and spread the word!
