Help to the victims of the floods in Brazil

Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state of Brazil is being devastated by an unprecedented flood, the largest and most destructive in its history. Over 300 municipalities have been affected, resulting in the tragic loss of 90 lives with dozens still unaccounted for. Hundreds of thousands of individuals have been displaced and potentially lost their homes and livelihoods.

Among the hardest-hit areas is the Vale do Taquari, where the community is dealing with the aftermath of this catastrophe. This is the second catastrophic flood in less than 8 months, with water levels surging up to 35m above the riverbed. As the waters recede, the true extent of the devastation resembles a tsunami-like scene.

Challenges range from power outages to the scarcity of potable water and communication breakdowns. Landslides have rendered roads impassable, while bridges have been washed away, severing vital supply chains for food and essential resources.

So far, we have identified two charitable organisations to which we will direct your donations. The first is Liga Feminina de Combate ao Câncer de Encantado - RS, a women-led group, and the second is Residencial Geriátrico Vovolandia de Estrela - RS, a care home assisting disadvantaged elderly people. Both organisations are actively supporting the affected population with their hands-on approach.
