Story

As a rural village this could be the difference between life and death should the worst happen.

Statistics highlight that with every minute of delay from the onset of Cardiac Arrest to defibrillation, the chances of survival diminish by 10%.
This means that after 10 minutes, without defibrillation, the chances of survival are almost zero.

If we were to purchase an AED for the village then defibrillation could potentially be carried out within 4-5 minutes, this is within the time frame of optimum survival rates and before brain damage begins to occur. Not only that, but the survival rate would be increased from less than 5% to more than 50%

Thanks to the British Heart Foundation the AED will be provided following us making a donation of £600.
We then need to purchase a heated cabinet with a pin code lock an additional cost of around £720.
Training will also be provided for anyone in the village that wants it.
Any additional funds will be used for a case and accessories as well as electricity costs, upkeep and maintenance.

There is a high proportion of our community that is over the age of 45 and statistically, they are the ones most at risk, having said that, a sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone – man or woman, young or old, fit or unfit – anywhere, at any time and without warning.

Help us to help our community, it could be your life that is saved.
