Southwood Family Pre-School was set up as an army group 45 years ago. They moved into Gower Lodge on Fleet Road where they have remained since 1983. They have recently received a 'Good' Ofsted rating and are now able to take children from 2 years old.

Many of the staff have been at Southwood Family Pre-School for a very long time and have witnessed and nurtured generations of families during this period:
Manager Sue Bedford, has been with the pre-school for over 40 years, and has helped make it a fun and educational place for children to come and learn through play.
Judy Culver has been with the pre-school for over 20 years and Jo Wrightman over 14 years.

Our own children have both attended and loved their time at Southwood, enjoying the many and varied trips the school has provided including train rides, strawberry picking, trips to the shops for cake making ingredients and walks in Southwood Woods.

We were so pleased with the many developments our children made whilst at the school, it was the first place our eldest son, Jake, rode a two wheeled bike.

Our youngest son Thomas is nearing the end of his time at the Pre-Scool, and we will really miss the lovely family feel that has been provided to us and our children over the last 5 years.

We would love, as a small way of saying "thank you", to help the Pre-School continue to provide this fantastic facility, and to see future generations of local families enjoy the benefits Southwood can offer.

We will be hoping to raise money by doing a family challenge, where our children Jake - aged 7, Thomas - aged 3, and us their parents- Kim and Craig - (aged a little older) will be hiking to the top of Mount Snowdon in Wales in April, whatever weather is thrown at us along the way!
