Story

Periods are not a great time of the month for any woman, but for homeless women with very limited access to the expensive 'luxury' of sanitary items, it is a truly awful and humiliating time, and because of the taboo that surrounds the topic, it's something that doesn't often cross our mind.

Some women are forced to use ripped up cloths, old socks or toilet roll from public toilets, or make a few tampons last the entire length of their period. This can lead to infections, not only does it have an emotional impact on a woman it can also cause great health complications.

My self and the team at Sow a Seed International have decided to do something this September for homeless women, our focus is to help communities all over the world as we believe Community is where the heart is. So, this September we shall be doing feminine hygiene packs, which we call our SaS packs.

Each pack will contain

3 sanitary pads,

3 tampons

A face towel

Disposable knickers

Wipes

Antibacterial gel

Deodorant

Toothpaste

Toothbrush

Socks.

We plan on making as much packs as possible so it can be distributed around the local areas of London and Liverpool, the team at Sow a Seed International also plan on giving a financial donation to a charity called shelter from the storm.

Shelter from the storm is a non-profitable charity that is located in the heart of Islington. The Shelter from the storm organisation is one of London’s free homeless shelter, where people on the streets can come and spend a night and are offered a shower , good home cooked meal and also information on getting back on your feet for example, advice on helping to look for work etc.

Thank you again for visiting our page. We are incredibly grateful for the support and donations given to our cause no matter how big or small!
