Story
Miani Girls School is situated in Batticaloa, Sri Lanka. It is registered under the child care and probation department (No. EP/PCC/CH/34). The centre is currently run by the Somascan sisters and they foster a family atmosphere for abandoned, vulnerable girls orphaned since the Tsunami in 2005. They aim to develop these girls (35 girls at the moment) into mature and secure individuals by instilling it them the value of love, respect and dedication.
The funding that the home received from a particular organisation withdrew due to a fall in their economic situations and so the girls are now left with no money for basic needs and the sisters are unable to meet their daily needs. It is of utter urgency since the government will take the harsh decision to shut the home down if they are unable to provide for themselves. The girls range from 5 years to 21 years.
My husband and myself have contributed £250 from our own money to help buy School bag for 35 girls. However, they are still in need of basic needs which are beyond our capacity. Hence, we are reaching out to request your generous hearts to help these children out towards a better and brighter future.
The following are the list of needs for the children:
Foot wear (£200), Umbrellas (£70), Clothing (£350), Notebooks (£380) with the total of £1000 to raise.
