Are you ready for a challenge?! 🏃🏃‍♀‍ Land's End to John o' Groats SGS Challenge 2020

Starts Monday 1 June 2020

Unfortunately the fantastic SGS Challenge sponsored walk can’t go ahead, so Mr Crane posed this idea to the staff running group ‘SGS Runners’.

We would like all students and parents to take part and raise money for the NHS and PFA along the way.

We appreciate all the hard work from the NHS and the dedication of all their key workers at this time. We also would like to support the PFA, who voluntarily fundraise for much needed items for the benefit of all SGS students.

Originally we set a target of 874 miles in one month and originally hoped to raise £2,500. We will keep you in touch with how far we are against target on Facebook. The 'SGS Runners' are already plotting their game plan! We also have the 'SGS girls' , a team of five staff organised by Mrs Johnson!

All forms of exercise, as long as miles can be recorded. Ask your friends and family to sponsor you. Can you match the "SGS Runners" target of 874 miles in a month? We will send out a ParentMail, with an attached sponsorcard you can use. There will also be joining instructions to 'Strava' if you would like to join a team!

Good luck and have fun!

SGS Runners

Pledge your challenge and the amount you would like to raise. We will leave it up to you how you do this. If possible, donate £5, run/walk/cycle 5 miles /nominate 5 friends to do the same!

Thank you to Mr Crane for the inspiration and to the ‘SGS Runners’ who are on board.

Remember it is not a competition, it is about appreciating the benefits of exercise at this time. Any photographs of you completing your challenge can be sent to communications@ spaldinggrammar.lincs.sch.uk

“Land's End to John o' Groats is the traversal of the whole length of the island of Great Britain between two extremities, in the southwest and northeast. The traditional distance by road is 874 miles (1,407 km) and takes most cyclists 10 to 14 days; the record for running the route is nine days.”
