Story

This year, once again me, my friends and family will be fundraising to support 2 amazing charities after the success of our first charity ball just 2 years ago:

The George Pantziarka TP53 Trust and Teenage Cancer Trust.

The George Pantziarka TP53 Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to supporting people with Li-Fraumeni Syndrome (LFS) – a rare genetic condition caused by mutations in the TP53 gene. People with LFS face a much higher lifetime risk of developing multiple cancers, often from a young age. The Trust provides education, research funding, and community support to those living with this difficult diagnosis.

We’re also supporting Teenage Cancer Trust, a UK charity that ensures no young person faces cancer alone. They provide specialist nurses, youth support workers, and hospital units designed for teenagers, helping to make a frightening experience a little more manageable.

This cause, like many other families who have faced cancer, is incredibly personal to us. Me, my mum and late granda have Li-Fraumeni Syndrome, which means we live with the knowledge of being at high risk for developing various cancers throughout my life. In fact, cancer has already left a significant mark on me and my family. At age 15, I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer. Then, at 21, I made the decision to have a preventative double mastectomy due to my high risk of breast cancer. My family has also endured five other cancer diagnoses such as bowel, leukaemia, and skin cancers linked to this same gene mutation.

We want to use our experiences to raise awareness, drive research, and support others going through the unimaginable.

As part of our fundraising efforts, we’re hosting a Charity Ball on October 4th – a night to come together, raise funds, and celebrate the strength of those facing these challenges.

If you can’t attend but still want to contribute, this JustGiving page is the perfect way to get involved.

And to give things an extra boost, me and a few friends will be running the Glasgow Inflatable 5K on August 23rd! All funds raised will go toward the total we reveal after the Charity Ball in October.

Thank you for supporting these causes that mean so much to us. Your donation, no matter how small, truly makes a difference.
