I've raised £200 to Support Special Olympics Cornwall

I’m running a half marathon on the 9th September 2018 in support of Special Olympics Cornwall. The Cornwall team achieved great things at the GB Special Olympics games in Sheffield last year. So great in fact, that two of the team have managed to get themselves onto the Special Olympics GB squad for next years world games in Abu Dhabi, however this comes at a price! The wonderful Charlotte and Adrian (pictured below - front row, second and third from the left) are both in the GB basketball squad which is great! But the cost to get them there is £1400 each. Their families and friends are busy fundraising but need some help to reach their target. Anything you can spare would be an amazing contribution!
The Special Olympics Cornwall team are an orgnaisation very close to my heart, throughout my time at university I volunteered with them for 2 years and the amount of joy and kindness I experienced during my time with them was overwhelming. I can’t think of a more deserving cause. The team are a part of the global Special Olympics group providing ”year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people with learning disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of skills, gifts and friendship with their families, other Special Olympic athletes and the community.”
The group of volunteers are some of the best people I’ve met, the amount of time and positivity they give weekly/ monthly in order to support the athletes and give them the best possible experience is amazing. They really do have such a huge impact, I can’t sum it up in words. To give you a better idea of some of the great work they all do, watch this short film I put together: https://vimeo.com/126941759
Thanks for looking - and send me your good vibes on race day!
