Story

Spectrum is a student-led charity established in 1982. Its primary objective is the relief of physically or mentally disabled children and their families in the London Borough of Camden and its neighbourhood by:

(a) Connecting volunteer students to families in Camden whose children have special needs in order to befriend the child

(b) Making regular visits, of not less than one every two weeks, to the families and to organise special events for family participation.

Spectrum aims to run a residential weekend trip once a year. This weekend away provides an opportunity for the children t experience new activities, challenge themselves and most importantly have fun. The time away is also a valuable respite for parents and families. The children are split into groups and participate in numerous exciting activities during their time at the centre such as: rock climbing, archery, canoeing, swimming and bush craft. Spectrum also runs its own activities during the holiday such as sing-song and arts & crafts. The professionals at the centre are experienced and friendly and ensure that children of all abilities get the most out of their time there. To raise money for our amazing annual residential trip we are doing a Christmas themed sponsored 10km walk!!
