Story
Spike has been a keen singer and dancer since an early age, performing in many Festivals and shows.
Last year, he took part in a highly successful new musical with NYMT called the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, at The Other Palace Theatre in London.

It was the most amazing experience and I made some fantastic friends and learnt so much. The show was really well received by the critics and I am very excited that a cast recording of the music will be coming out soon
He auditioned again this year, along with thousands of other children and young people nationwide, and was over the moon to be offered the role of Mrs Evangline Harcourt in Anything Goes, the hilarious Cole Porter musical.
Spike, who is aged 15, continues to take a very active part in local musical life, playing Killer Queen in We Will Rock You at Kingsmead School, and winning the prestigious Taunton Young Music Theatre Singer Prize in February. Last year, he also worked very hard to gain merits in both Grade 6 ballet and Grade 4 tap.

Getting into the NYMT for a second year is a great achievement, and another step along the way to Spike's ambitions of a career in Musical Theatre.
This year, Spike is aiming to raise funds by busking. He has already sold some of his childhood lego and has embarked on an interesting art project about his experiences. Please see Different Bricks below .
Taking part in such courses is very expensive, not only the fees for the residential rehearsals, but also for travelling and necessary kit. If you could help us raise our total, we would be so grateful.

Different Bricks....
When I was at primary school, my mum and I had a lot of conversations about the choices you make if you are somewhat different to most other people. You can either conform and be a bit unhappy or you can be yourself and take the flak. I decided to be myself. When I was cast by NYMT in Anything Goes as Mrs Evangeline Harcourt it made me think more about this, and my experiences so far.
As part of my fundraising, I sold some of my Lego sets. There were lots of body parts from little figures leftover, so I began to make them into quirky people with their own style and unusual characteristics. These new lego figures represent a kind of crossover between childhood and becoming a teenage and young adult. I am exploring the fascination about how, although we are all made of the same stuff, but we are all so different. With lego, you are supposed to keep the figures as they are, but I love the fact that here they are jumbled up and all have their individual style, different to “how they should be” according to the instructions on the box.

I have set up an instagram account to create a virtual gallery showing some of the characters I have created.

Please have a look, and follow me. Please leave a comment with what you think a bit of their life story is - their surname, best friend, pet, or what their likes and dislikes would be.
If you like them, I would also be so grateful for any donations towards my NYMT course costs.
I am so grateful to all those who supported me last year, and also for this opportunity to take part in another NYMT show
