Story

We completed all 18km in 3.5 hours on Sunday. Thank you all so much for supporting us and a massive thank you to everyone who came to the pool to lap count for us.

We have raised £460.03 for our three school charities. Every year each of the seven houses has a charity week and now it's Grey Thompson's turn. We're doing this sponsored swim so we split the money between all of our school charities.

Our international charity is UK Friends of Unique home, Punjab. They are a group of UK residents who have regularly visited the Unique Home for Girls in India. They are raising money to help the home financially and providing space and facilities to look after all the girls who live there. The Unique Home for Girls provides safe and loving homes for girls who were abandoned as babies and young girls on the streets of Punjab because boys are seen as better than girls.

Our national charity is Macmillan Cancer Support who provide help for those who have just been diagnosed with cancer through to individuals who have finished treatment. They provide physical, financial and emotional support to those affected by cancer. Macmillan also have many trained nurses who are often the first people to talk to once you have been diagnosed, with financial and life requirements

Our local charity is The OLLIE Foundation, a charity devoted to stopping teenagers and young people from taking their own lives. The OLLIE Foundation was set up when three parents who had all lost their teenage sons to suicide, vowed to do all they could to prevent other families suffering similar tragedies. And so The OLLIE Foundation was born. The OLLIE Foundation (One Life Lost is Enough) is a charity funding suicide prevention skills training for any individual or community that wants it, especially those interacting with young people, or young people themselves. This includes parents, students, school staff, other charity and community groups and many more. The aim of the training is to create 'suicide safe' communities.
