Story
PLEASE NOTE: Donations have been coming in from all directions from local businesses and Tewkesbury folk, the money raised on here will go towards our £8000 target which is currently on track! Thank you for your support.
It is never too early to start thinking about the Tewkesbury Christmas Lights – the best in Gloucestershire we are regularly told!
The planning committee have been working for several months now and we expect another successful event on Sunday 19th November 2017 with the usual craft market stalls, entertainment and Father Christmas to turn on the lights and, of course, a huge number of people who support the event each year.
The only problem that we have is that a large amount of money is required in order that we can provide the display each year and we are appealing to all businesses in Tewkesbury to support the lights as the town would not be the same if they did not appear each year.
Many people think that they are funded by the councils but this is not the case, they are funded totally by voluntary contributions and fund raising events held during the year.
The annual expenditure includes insurance, erection and maintenance of the lights, street cleaning, road closure costs and signage, hire of equipment and first aid cover for the day. We are also continuously improving the infrastructure to ensure that the lights are to the latest quality standards and that all connections are safe.
We are grateful to our electrical friends at Rifina who have supported us for several years by storing the lights, checking that they are 100%, replacing bulbs and co-ordinating the work required to keep them shining brightly.
Please could you help us? We would be very grateful for any donation, large or small, that would help us to maintain this tradition in the town that does attract so many visitors during the Christmas period who may then stop and support our local businesses.
If you would like to continue to see our beautiful town lit up at Christmas along our streets, please help us financially to ensure that this long standing tradition keeps going for years to come!
Thank You from the Tewkesbury Christmas Lights Voluntary Team

Every year the Christmas Lights in Tewkesbury are funded by local voluntary donations. The Council do not fund the Christmas lights in the streets within the town, so it's up to you, the people of Tewkesbury to make it happen every year!
