Harrow School boys have created a partnership with the Foundation of Goodness, which is a Sri Lankan charity based in Seenigama. This is an organisation set up by Kushil Gunasekera, alongside former Sri Lankan Test cricketers Muttiah Muralitharan, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardena. The Foundation’s aim is to bridge the gap between the more developed urban and still-developing rural sectors in Sri Lanka. They focus on providing educational facilities for the people of the local villages, and so far have helped 35,000 people from over 200 villages. Their work has become particularly important following the Boxing Day Tsunami of 2004, which had a devastating impact on the local area.
We will begin by constructing a library, teaching English, ICT and business as well as coaching sports at the Foundation's Sports Academy.
