Weʼve raised £5,000 to Help the Victims of the Sri Lanka Bomb Attacks

Funded on Wednesday, 22nd May 2019

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

Recently the world was devastated when Notre Dame was engulfed in flames.

Today, on Easter Sunday, not only were many churches severely damaged, but hundreds of people have lost their lives. Husbands, wives, mothers, and children have perished, and many families have lost wage earners.

We stand by the people of Sri Lanka by pledging our donations to help rebuild the ruined churches, and financially support those who mourn.

The funds will go directly to Sri Lanka through the National Christian Council of Sri Lanka, St Andrew's Colombo, and other appropriate agencies.

Please share widely to ensure as many funds are raised as possible. Thank you.

Rev Dr Liam Jerrold Fraser, Church of Scotland Campus Minister, The University of Edinburgh

      Update from the Page owner

The fundraiser has now closed, and we raised over £5200! The money came both from individuals and from congregations following special collections. The money will be going to Zion Church in Batticaloa, which - being an independent church - did not have the same international support as the Roman Catholic Churches in Sri Lanka had. I am very happy that we have been able to give a small gesture of practical support to those caught up in the terrible attacks of Easter Sunday. God bless all of you!
