Story

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Help Keep the St George’s Day Parade & Gala in Morley Marching On.

Every year, the streets of Morley fill with flags, music, colour and community pride as we celebrate our much-loved St George’s Day Parade & Gala.

This isn’t just an event. It’s a showcase of everything that makes Morley special.

Our parade proudly features local young people and community groups, including:

Brownies

Scouts

Rainbows

Beavers

Cubs

Girl Guides

Explorer Scouts

Air Cadets

Army Cadets

Sea Cadets

Marching bands and performers

For many of these young people, this is a highlight of their year — an opportunity to represent their group, wear their uniform with pride and take the oath for their group in front of the the King's representative, the Lord Lieutenant.

Families line the streets. Local businesses get involved. Volunteers give their time. It is a true community celebration.

Why We Need Your Help.

It costs around £13,000 to safely stage the parade and gala each year.

This covers essential costs such as:

Road closures and professional traffic management

Security and stewarding

First aid and medical provision

Public liability insurance

Stage, sound and technical equipment

Entertainment and performers

Equipment hire and facilities

We are incredibly grateful to receive some funding and support from partners and local organisations. However, rising costs mean there is still a significant shortfall each year.

Without additional community support, it becomes increasingly difficult to maintain the high standards people have come to expect — particularly around safety, entertainment quality, and accessibility.

We don’t want to scale back.
We don’t want to cut corners.
We want to keep delivering the event Morley deserves.

Protecting a Proud Tradition.

The St George’s Day Parade & Gala:

Gives young people a platform to shine

Strengthens community spirit

Supports local traders and charities

Brings generations together

Creates lasting memories for families

This event is organised by volunteers who are passionate about keeping this tradition alive. Every pound raised goes directly back into the event.

How You Can Help.

If everyone who attends or supports the parade donated just a small amount, we could close the funding gap and secure the future of the event.

If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page to help us reach more supporters.

Let’s Keep Morley Celebrating.

With your help, we can continue to give Cadets, Brownies, Scouts, Rainbows, Beavers and all our local groups, the parade they deserve.

Please support the St George’s Day Parade & Gala today and help us keep this proud Morley tradition marching on for years to come.

Thank you for supporting your community 🇬🇧
