Weʼve raised £1,240 to help us carry out much needed repairs to St James Church in Clanfield, Hampshire. The West Window from 1305 is being eroded by the elements

Funded on Saturday, 7th April 2018

    Story

There has been a Church of England village church standing in Clanfield since 1305 and the West Window dates back to that church when John de Clanfield was the first rector. Unfortunately it is made of soft sandstone and is therefore weathered by the wind and rain that blow across the churchyard. It is not widely known that the church is self funded by its parishioners and we already struggle to pay the bills for heating and lighting etc. When it comes to extra needs we can fund half the money but need your help to find the rest. Please see if amid all the other claims on your money at Christmas you could perhaps send us some money to help keep this village church ready to meet your needs for Baptisms, Weddings or Funerals in the future.

We have raised £190 from our Just Giving Appeal and further money from our congregation. We are still short of the money needed by £500 so if you could make a donation we would be most grateful. Thanks.

Every little helps such a lovely church that supports and helps the village if everyone in the village donated just a small amount the target would be met easily

I am currently a Churchwarden at the Church and feel strongly that we need to keep it in good order for future generations who may want to get baptised, married or have a funeral there.
