We will be running 24hrs of continual loops at St Austell Cricket Ground from 8pm on Saturday July 22nd until 8pm Sunday July 23rd, raising money for Poppy and her family. Please read some info below regarding what they are currently going through and how the money will help them at this time.
Poppy Dixon is 4 years old and is undergoing her second fight of Leukaemia. This page has been set up to support Pete and Abby with the ongoing costs of being in Bristol until the new year.
‘As most of you know Poppy finished her treatment for a very common type of Leukaemia back in September. However, we noticed some unusual bruising on Poppy's legs a couple of weeks ago or so and took her to the hospital. After several tests, it was suggested that there might be some abnormal cells but unsure exactly what they were. We then went back to Bristol Children's Hospital for futher test which revealed news that was worse than expected.
They had confirmed she had relapsed but the leukemia has taken form in a rarer, harder to treat type of leukaemia. We have been told this is going to be very difficult to treat.
Poppy had surgery this week to fit her central line into her chest and is currently recieving intense chemo and if she responds well she will then need a bone marrow transplant. This will mean that Poppy will be in Bristol Children's Hospital until the new year. Firstly we need find a bone marrow donor. We've been told that this can be performed on a global scale but Oliver being the closest match.
There's no other way of saying this but this will be Poppy's last chance of survival.'
