Story
Over 12 months ago we launched a community project to build a life size bronze statue of C/Sgt Watchman V as a memorial to the Staffordshire Regiment - and to honour all the mascots and handlers that have served the regiment. The statue will be placed in Tamworth castle grounds.
The fundraising for the statue is complete and it is being made, with a view to be installed in the autumn. The base the statue will be mounted on is also being constructed by veterans and you can see an early 3D scan of the statue below.
As part of the memorial we are placing engraved bricks around the base featuring the names of Staffords who have died on deployment since the end of the Second World War.
Please help us raise £1000 to fund the special bricks and help us build a lasting tribute to soldiers of the Staffordshire Regiment and 3 Mercian soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
All funds raised will held by Community Together CIC (a not for profit community interest company).
You can find out the latest information about the project at www.facebook.com/watchmanstaffordshire

6 years agoWe have had to increase the amount needed slightly as we have a few more names that originally estimated. We originally estimated that we need 35 bricks, this has now grown to over 45.

I'm a 'Stafford', my Father is a 'Stafford', that makes my Mum a 'Stafford' too. The regiment made me completely welcome, my earnest respects for your cause.
