As the war in Ukraine approaches its third year, the brutal invaders continue to target key infrastructure such as the power grid, affecting electricity and water supplies; Even homes, hospitals and schools have not been spared from the onslaught. Volunteer group, Stamford Supports Ukraine (SSU), continues to work tirelessly to raise both awareness and funds to help the people of Ukraine.

Through a range of fundraising events and activities, SSU continue to purchase essential aid items including power generators and Ecoflows, plus Starlink satellite units which enable both military and civilians to effectively communicate with the outside world. We also fundraise for desperately needed lifesaving emergency medical supplies such as:

Traumatic Bleed Stop Kits (£33 each), tourniquets (£14 each), Chest Seals (£8 each), Israeli Bandages ((£9 each), Chest Decompression Needles (£21 each).

SSU volunteers and their Ukrainian friends currently living in the area, are also working in collaboration with local businessman Mark Lawrence, who has designed and developed a robust, light weight foldable stretcher which can be used in a range of medical evacuation settings. We are offering supporters the opportunity to 'sponsor a stretcher'. Suggested donations: £20 to sponsor a stretcher whether as an individual, family, group or business. For £25 you can personalise your sponsored stretcher with a signature, drawing or a few words of encouragement for the recipient. Please mark your donation as ‘Stretchers’ if you would like to specifically donate towards these.

An amazing band of Stamford knitters also support SSU with their thermal talents. This ‘knitwork’ of crafters make beautiful items of clothing and soft toys for civilians and has knitted numerous pairs of socks and balaclavas for the men and women on the frontline which SSU transport to areas most in need.
