I'm raising £4000 to fund a new play area. I'm running 121 miles to raise money for Maggie's special needs school.

Story

My granddaughter Maggie attends a very lovely special needs school in Stroud - Sladewood Academy. They support children with a variety of needs, including Autism, communication & interaction, as well as sensory processing difficulties. Maggie has a genetic condition which means she is non verbal and has global developmental delays. Maggie loves her school. She has made great progress with her communication and is doing things we never thought were possible thanks to Sladewood.

Sladewood Academy are raising funds to develop a safe and fully accessible playground. This will enable all children, regardless of their mobility or sensory needs, to access the play area safely and enjoy equal opportunities for engagement, exploration, and social interaction.

I plan to run from my home in Weybridge, Surrey to Sladewood school, a total of 121 miles, and no doubt more when I get a bit lost along the way. I aim to run it in 8 days at an average of 15-16 miles per day. The route will take me along the Wey Navigation canal, the Basingstoke canal, the Kennet and Avon canal and the last part of the Thames Path, plus all the connecting bits. I’m planning to run from 8th to 15th September.

For anyone used to interpreting course elevation profiles, the vertical line at the end is not a mistake - there really is a huge hill there. I'll be walking that bit.

So please give generously. The school needs to raise many thousands of pounds to complete the project.

Head teacher Katy has already raised over £2,200. Her page has a detailed description of the work planned -
