I've raised £25000 to support NHS Charities Together & Standing with Giants Community Project, to enable us to take our installations on tour around the country.

Standing with Giants is a voluntary community group who were set up to honour those who have given their lives so we can have the freedom we have today. We do this by creating large scale art installations. You may have seen our previous installations where we installed 100 Armistice day soldier silhouettes above the M40 Motorway in 2019 and 200 Soldier Silhouettes at Blenheim Palace in 2020, raising funds for The Royal British Legion. In July 2021 our 3rd installation was an NHS tribute displayed at Oxfords, South Park, raising funds for NHS Charities Together & our community project Standing with Giants, to enable us to take our installations on tour around the country.
We know plan to take our NHS tribute to Coventry's Coombe Abbey Park from October 11th - October 29th 2021. All details can be found at www.standing withgiants.co.uk
Our volunteers have worked tirelessly over the past few months to create 300+ life size NHS figures for this tribute installation. Whilst this tribute is intended to thank all the frontline workers for all their hard work during this Covid-19 Pandemic , it’s particular purpose is to remember those colleagues who lost their lives on the front line fighting Covid-19. Our aim is to create a meaningful space for people to come and to grieve and to show loved ones of those who are no longer with us that they will not be forgotten.
The installation comprises 300 hand-painted life-size frontline workers, 60 different designs painted on the front of upcycled aluminium composite board and attached to Steel frames. The backs of the figures are painted Black to symbolise remembrance with a face mask to represent the harsh realities of Covid-19. When viewed from the back you will see a sea of silhouettes with face masks and when viewed from the front you will see a sea of colourful front line workers positioned approximately 5 m apart.
Ellie Orton, Chief Executive of NHS Charities Together, says: - “We want to give a heartfelt thanks to Dan Barton and all those involved in creating and showing such a stunning installation in tribute to our NHS frontline. The installation is a poignant reminder of the tireless work of the NHS workforce who looked after the nation throughout the pandemic, despite the huge impact it has had on their mental health and wellbeing. Sadly the pandemic hasn’t yet gone away and we need to continue to be there for them - money raised will go towards supporting our NHS staff, volunteers and patients both practically and emotionally, now and in the longer term as the NHS recovers from the most challenging time in its history.
This tribute is designed to show the families who have lost loved ones to Covid-19 that they will not be forgotten.
