Story
The people of Myanmar need help. Since the military coup in 2021, conflict and oppression has escalated resulting in an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in the country.
The Myanmar military is fighting to rule the country through violence and removal of democracy, freedom and human rights. It is crushing all opposition to its illegal 2021 coup and is waging a war against its own innocent civilians. As a direct result, people are suffering on every level.
The military is using its air force to conduct indiscriminate bombings of homes, schools, hospitals, and churches. It is also employing a scorched earth policy burning homes and whole towns and villages to suppress any resistance. It is carrying out acts of terror including murders, rape and torture.
The UN estimates:
- 1.8 million people are internally displaced (IDPs)
- 17.6 million people are in humanitarian need
- only 8% of the UN 2023 budget for Myanmar has been funded
IDPs are living in dangerous conditions seeking shelter in the jungles and forests. They are in dire need of food, shelter, clothing and medical care.
The Stars of Myanmar Friendship Club is dedicated to helping those in Myanmar affected by the coup. We all have a story to tell of heartbreak, grief, loss, suffering. However, we remain strong and firm in our commitment to help the people of Myanmar and we are walking in solidarity with all those who believe in a brighter future for Myanmar.
All money raised will go directly to help those in need.
Thank you so much for helping us to help Myanmar.
