Story

Thank you for talking the time to visit our page. We at St Austell Athletes Running Club have this year decided to raise funds for Par Running Track, to help them to maintain the track and make sure it remains open for use, benefiting the local community and many running clubs like ourselves, all year round. It also plays host to Junior Park Run every Sunday morning, so the next generation of runners can get to use this fantastic facility.

Please read below a message from Par Track outlining what they need to raise and why it's so important that this work takes place. Any donations would be gratefully received. Many Thanks.

As a Charitable Community Benefit Society, we are proud to be home to Cornwall's only competition-grade athletics track licensed to hold athletics events. Every year the track is used by local athletics clubs, schools, community groups, recreational runners and athletes of all ages and abilities. It also hosts competitions that bring people from across Cornwall and beyond.

Now we need your help.

To keep the track in competition standard and ensure it remains safe and fit for purpose, it requires a specialist deep clean and full re-lining. This isn't routine maintenance that can be carried out by our own team – it requires specialist contractors, specialist equipment and comes with a price tag of around £25,000.

Without this work, the condition of the track will gradually deteriorate, affecting the quality of the facility and, ultimately, our ability to continue hosting athletics competitions.

As a not-for-profit community organisation, £25,000 is a huge amount of money to find.

We're not simply asking for donations. Over the coming months we'll be doing everything we can to raise the money ourselves through fundraising events, sponsored challenges, local business support and grant applications. Our goal is to raise at least half of the total cost through our own fundraising efforts.

We've already had an amazing response from our community. Local running clubs have offered to organise fundraising challenges, businesses have donated raffle prizes, and volunteers are coming forward with ideas and support. The enthusiasm has been incredible, and we're determined to make this a real community project.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us protect this unique facility for future generations.

Your support will help ensure that:

Young athletes have somewhere to train and compete.

Local schools can continue using the track.

Athletics clubs have a high-quality facility to develop athletes.

Community members of all ages can stay active and healthy.

Cornwall continues to have a venue capable of hosting athletics competitions.
