Weʼve raised £5,981 to repair the damage to St Botolph's lead roof and our beautiful Arts & Crafts stained windows, and to prevent this happening again

    Story

Sadly St Botolph's was broken into again this week. Thieves stole our leaded roof a month or two ago. This time they broke into the church by smashing through a beautiful stained glass window by Bodley, part of the Arts & Craft's restoration in the nineteenth century. We need to repair the roof and restore the broken window. We also need to take some steps to make sure this doesn't happen again.

But we are committed to staying open every day for prayer and contemplation, for peace and calm, for remembrance and thanks and praise.

Thank you all so much for your support. This means we are able to do the repairs we need to do, both to the window and the roof. We have found a really good specialist who we hope will make the window, if not as good as new, then certainly as good as it is possible to do.

Dan Jones showing the damaged panel with the broken window behind him. Thanks to all our friends and supporters on line and in person we have raised nearly £3,000 so far. This will help us do the repairs and conservation we need to do and to put in place some additional protective measures. Thank you all so much.

The beautiful stained glass windows at Saint Botolph's are invaluable - a joy in so many ways. Cambridge is very lucky to have such a gorgeous church, attended so well, filled with love.
