I'm raising £2000 to support the victims of a house fire in Steam Mills on Christmas Day 2025

Story

I’m trying to raise £2,000+ to support those affected by a devastating house fire that broke out this afternoon, on Christmas Day 2025, in Steam Mills, Cinderford, Gloucestershire.

Although I don’t personally know the family involved, I live nearby in Newtown on the other side of Steam Mills. I do, however, know their next-door neighbours, who have also been affected by this tragic event.

I will share updates as I learn more directly from those impacted and gain a clearer understanding of what support is most urgently needed from all effected. From what I understand, they have lost almost everything, and any funds raised will go towards helping people replace essential items. Hopefully, this can help get the ball rolling in supporting those during this incredibly difficult time.

Let’s come together as the Forest of Dean community and do what we can to help. Any donation, big or small, will hopefully make a difference to those effected.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.

*UPDATE*

Update as promised - I’ve spent some of today looking into the terrible event from yesterday, as pre-empted when starting this fundraiser, neighbouring properties have also been affected with smoke damaged etc as it is a terraced house. A small proportion of donations will be distributed fairly to help assist these families too also affected by this tragedy on either side. Amazingly, we’ve exceeded the amount thought possible, so hopefully we can help these families in this difficult time too and raise some more!

A third party will be advocating distributing these funds when they become available - thank you everyone!
