Story

Hi there!

We are hoping to fundraise £15,000 to install Solar Power on Steep Holm Island, a remarkable Nature Reserve in the Bristol Channel, known for its natural beauty, rare wildlife, and fascinating military history.

Solar energy would enable us to be more enviromentally friendly, allowing us to cease using the very old diesel generator 'Bertha' and back up motor, we have been using for five decades!

2026 marks the 50th Anniversary of the Kenneth Allsop Memorial Trust owning the Island. What better way to celebrate this momentous occasion, than ensuring the future of the Island will be cleaner and safer for future generations. Our charity is run totally by volunteers and solely on donations.

For the first time, we would be able to control things from the mainland, including the water pump and filter system, we could install wildlife cameras to monitor our Gulls, Birds and Muntjac Deer. We could even turn the electric on so the fridge is cold before the visitors arrive on the Island! What luxury!

COULD YOU HELP US?

Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a real difference. Donating through JustGiving also allows us to claim Gift Aid, increasing the value of your gift at no extra cost to you.

We would need to install the panels and system once the season is finished in October. Giving us just four months to raise this huge amount of money!

What do you think? Can we do this?

We appreciate every donation, every SHARE of this fundraiser and can only complete this task with you all by our side.

Thank you!
