𝐖𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭.
𝐎𝐧 29 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡, I’ll be running the 𝐊𝐞𝐰 𝐆𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐧 - my fourth half‑marathon.
This year I’m running as an 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲, fundraising for 𝐆𝐓𝐀 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐈𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 (https://theblackwomenintech.com/), a not‑for‑profit organisation doing very important and practical work to support Black women to thrive and progress into leadership roles in tech.
Black Women in Tech focuses on 𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩, 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, through initiatives such as 𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒆𝑻𝒆𝒄𝒉 and 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑽𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔 𝑰𝒏 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑺𝒉𝒂𝒅𝒐𝒘.
I am particularly impressed with the 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰 programme which:
- showcases the 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲𝐬 𝐨𝐟 51 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐊 and beyond who have made an impact in the tech industry and
- 𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐠𝐢𝐫𝐥𝐬 to see that there is a place for them to thrive and flourish professionally.
Any contribution genuinely helps; even sharing the link to this page within your networks would be great!
Thank you for reading, and wish me luck (Kew Gardens is beautiful, but 21.1km is still 21.1km and I am going for another PB).
