Alzheimer's is a form of dementia and a condition which has always been close to my heart. Dealing with any illness is challenging and upsetting. However, what do you do when you cannot even rely on your family and friends for support because you do not recognise who they are anymore? You may not even be able to reassure yourself because you cannot make sense of reality within your own head. I can only imagine how terrifying this must feel.

There are many great charities and services aiming to support those in need and find a cure to stop this horrific disease and its devastating effects. Not only is it difficult for the sufferer who can tend to zone out due to the sheer pain and confusion they are experiencing, but it is also painful and sometimes frustrating to those who are watching the one they love losing touch with them as time passes.

I urge that everyone watches some of the "sound track to my life" videos on YouTube and possibly even start making one yourselves for those you love. The gift of sound through music is one of the last memories we have and through playing music which is meaningful to an andividual, we can spark a memory which can hugely comfort someone. Even if we can do so for just a minute - through a familiar memory - surely that makes it worthwhile. Hopefully you will not need it. However, having playlists of meaningful songs can only be a good thing right?

Alzheimer's Scotland do not only support research but also provide services to help those in need of help. This could be advise for recently diagnosed people, to support and help for families dealing with the condition. I want to play my part by hopefully raising £500 to do a solo skydive and would hugely appreciate any donations as it means an awfully lot to me. Thanks for taking the time to read this,
