Story

On Sunday 1st June, my brother and I will be proudly taking part in the Aberdeen Kiltwalk to support a cause close to our hearts — Early Intervention. Our connection is deeply personal, Olivia was diagnosed with autism last year, and finding Early Intervention has been somewhere where she can truly feel at ease. It’s somewhere she loves to go, a place that is inclusive, welcoming, and non-judgemental. It really does make a world of difference to Olivia, and to us as a family.

Early Intervention is a volunteer-led, safe space for neurodivergent children and their families in Aberdeen. They focus on early support — helping children as young as possible. Their approach is family-centred and fully inclusive, offering a place where both children and parents feel accepted, supported, and understood.

Here’s just some of what they do:

• Therapeutic support like Speech & language therapy, music therapy, and art therapy

• Inclusive play sessions tailored to sensory needs — including messy play, nature sessions, and quiet time

• Parent and carer support, with workshops, drop-in sessions, and peer groups to help families navigate diagnoses, school, or everyday challenges

• Celebrating neurodiversity — helping children build confidence, feel safe being themselves, and develop vital social skills in a nurturing environment

Many of the families they support have felt left behind by traditional systems. Early Intervention gives them somewhere to turn — and everything they offer is powered by local fundraising, donations, and an incredible team of volunteers.

Despite the life-changing work they do, Early Intervention receives no government funding. Every penny raised goes straight to the children — not on admin or premises, but directly to the support that’s most needed.

We’re not setting a specific fundraising target — because every donation, no matter the size, makes a real difference. Your support helps keep this brilliant community going.

Thank you so much!
